About Us
It Does Matter is Charitable Incorporated Organisaiton (CIO) that began as an awareness campaign launched during Freshers Week 2024 to raise awareness of non-contact sexual offences and the importance of reporting them.
The campaign was developed in memory of Libby Squire, who was raped and murdered in 2019 whilst a student at University in Hull. Her murderer was found to have a history of non-contact sexual offending and Libby's tragic death highlights the serious risks posed by these behaviours.
OUR MISSION
To advance education around non‑contact sexual offences, improve public safety by encouraging reporting and understanding risk factors and promote responsible citizenship, by supporting communities to challenge harmful behaviours.
We work with police forces, local authorities, educational institutions, specialist organisations and survivor‑advocates, seeking corporate partners and funders who want to help create safer communities for women and girls.

You can report anonymously to Crimestoppers, which will forward the information to the appropriate authorities. Alternatively, you can report all relevant information to your local Police Force directly.

WHY IT MATTERS
Non‑contact sexual offences are often misunderstood, minimised or dismissed. They are not okay and they should not be tolerated by society.
They include
-
Indecent Exposure
-
Online Exposure
-
Catcalling
-
Drink Spiking
-
Voyeurism
-
Upskirting
-
Stalking
-
Harassment
By educating young people and creating a greater awareness that these behaviours can form part of escalating patterns of harm, through encouraging reporting, we will help police forces to build a better picture of where offences occur, improve community safety and prevent further harm.

SPEAK UP, STAND TOGETHER, STAY SAFE.
If you have been a victim of, or have witnessed, a non-contact sexual offence, there are several ways you can report it.

Learn More About Libby’s Story

“My daughter Libby was enjoying University - studying and partying hard!
In 2019 she was refused entry to a club because she was too drunk, so her friends sent her home alone in a taxi. But Libby never got home. She was raped and murdered by a stranger who had a history of non-contact sexual offences.
Her death was entirely preventable.
I know Libby would be proud of this campaign, collaborating with Thames Valley Police and raising awareness around safety and reporting.
My hope is that you speak up, stand together, and stay safe. Had someone done this for Libby, she would be alive today.”
