WHY IT DOES MATTER
It Does Matter is a Campaign launched during Fresher’s Week 2024 in memory of Libby Squire, a university student who was raped and murdered whilst a student at Hull University. Her murderer was found to have a history of non-contact sexual offending.
Non-contact sexual offences are serious crimes that can form part of a pattern of harmful behaviour that may escalate.

We are striving for a change in behaviour and attitude towards these types of offences. If you are the victim of, or witness to any of the following:
-
Indecent Exposure
-
Online Exposure
-
Catcalling
-
Drink Spiking
-
Voyeurism
-
Upskirting
-
Stalking
-
Harassment
IT’S NOT OKAY, IT DOES MATTER!

You can report anonymously to Crimestoppers, which will forward the information to the appropriate authorities. Alternatively, you can report all relevant information to your local Police Force directly.
By educating young people and the wider community about the seriousness of these offences and encouraging reporting, we will help police forces identify patterns and hotspots, building a better picture of where these offences occur, ultimately improving safety in our communities.
If you have been a victim of, or have witnessed a non-contact sexual offence, there are several ways you can report it.
